"I was about to go speak to him anyways," Darren shrugged, he was done here. He had gotten a story almost exactly like Conner's, that was good. Now he just needed to pay Striker a visit and hope he's not an absolute idiot. He collected the folders and stood up, "As for water, just pester Officer Flight, i'm sure she'd be just thrilled to get you a drink."
Hopefully, she would pester Karren, would keep that woman out of Darren's way. He left the room, pointing her towards the room when she approached to question him. She gave him a confused look before going to the room Ember was in after a verbal command from Darren.
He placed the file on his desk, and picked up a new one. This time the person holding the file seemed to be expecting his snatch, and merely held it out for him. He entered the room Striker was in, and put on the most unpleasant face he could muster. As if he were mad beyond belief, almost as much as when Striker decided to inject him with that mind control device. In fact, Darren was using that memory to pull off this act.
"Ok you little shit. Your friends already admitted to it, where is it?" he dropped the folder on the table, he knew Striker couldn't read so was going to use that fact to his advantage, "Written right here, your sister told me what you're planning. Where is it?!"
'For once in your life, play stupid when you're supposed to,' Darren wished inwardly.

Striker waited patiently checking the clock often. He sat as still as he could managed waiting, but as the time ticked on, Striker begin fearing something had happened. What was taking so long? Still, they undoubtedly were going to be here a long while, maybe they were just going over the contracts with Conner already or something. Striker didn't know the procedures so he'd just wait for news.
When Darren entered the room, Striker fought the urge to smile with relief that it was him and not someone else coming to interrogate him. That was until he saw Darren's face. He looked pissed. Striker cocked his head to the side slightly at his expression. Why was he mad? Was it the situation or was he pissed at him? Striker didn't know, but he felt uneasy for a moment. And then Darren spoke. "Ok you little shit. Your friends already admitted to it, where is it? Written right here, your sister told me what you're planning. Where is it?!" He demanded.
"What?" It came out without Striker even thinking. He didn't bother looking down at the papers because he knew he wouldn't be able to understand a single word it said. "Where's what? My sister, Conner, and me all came here to sign a contract. What did they say we were here for?" Striker asked completely stupefied. The whole plan was to sign a contract. What could Conner and Ember have possibly said that made Darren so made to come in here demanding where something was? "I swear I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you asking about the hide out? The Strike Out territory? Look, I can tell you where that is. No problem. Just calm down and tell me what's going on."
Striker just wanted Darren calm. He wanted answers, but he hadn't ever seen Darren this mad except that time he'd injected Darren with the serum. He wondered what on Earth he'd done wrong. He felt a little terrified actually. He was good at dealing with angry people when he didn't know them, of course usually by dealing with them, he meant fighting them. He didn't know how to handle angry friends. Or he supposed he just didn't know how to handle angry friends when they had no reason to be angry at him. All he kept thinking was 'What have I done wrong?' Yet, he'd try to rationalize with Darren. He'd just ask him to explain so that Striker could understand what he was mad about so he could set him straight.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about!" Darren growled. He felt a bit bad for suddenly blowing up like this with no warning. He would just have to hope that Striker was catching his act. Striker knew that Darren knew Striker couldn't read, so he was hoping that Striker would pick up that it was an act. Though he would have to hope that if he did he'd continue to play stupid.
"If you 'don't know' then just read it for yourself Mr Bigshot," Darren huffed, "Now tell me. Where. Is. It."
Darren wondered if he should pull out the clocks again...nah the office should not need that much convincing. Though it was tempting just to screw with Striker while he still could. He probably would not see Striker in this kind of room anymore if they went through with the deal, so having some final fun with the clock-boy didn't seem like too bad of an idea. The officer glared down at the 18 year old, almost as if he detested the young man's very existence.
He hoped the fact that Striker wasn't surprised that they already knew that Ember was his sister wouldn't harm his plan, he was counting on Striker being surprised and in the dark about the station knowing about his sister's relationship. It would have helped make the act more convincing and show to the officers that Striker believed that Ember really was leaking information. Oh well, maybe if Striker was scared enough they might believe him anyways.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about! If you 'don't know' then just read it for yourself Mr Bigshot. Now tell me. Where. Is. It."
Striker just stared speechless trying to figure out what he could be talking about. He tried processing the information given to him. Darren was yelling about something Conner and Ember had said. Demanding him to read the papers. Wait, didn't Darren know he couldn't read? Striker knitted his eyebrows together with intense concentration on what all this could be about. Where was what? Wait, had he just said his sister? Crap! Wait, he supposed they'd gotten finger prints, so that was bound to come out eventually. And the fact he'd confirmed it when he'd responded back that 'my sister, Conner, and me'.
Striker tried concentrating harder. Come on Striker! He mentally yelled. What is Darren trying to get from you? After a moment of being completely lost and baffled Striker just looked up at the older cop with the most confused face he'd probably ever made.
"I'm sorry. I really have no idea what you're talking about. And I can't read." Striker said despite knowing the rest of the cops would know that now. "You can yell at me all day, but I still haven't the slightest clue on what your talking about and I won't until you decide to enlighten me and stop being so cryptic about the situation." He tried keeping his voice calm, but it was laced with curiosity and confusion of the situation. He leaned forward in his seat a little concerned for Darren now. "Is something wrong? Did something happen to Ember and Conner?" Then pieces seemed to click in his mind. Clearly he was pissed because somehow someone had done something to Conner and Ember and either they were kidnapped or being forced to say something ridiculous right now to save their lives. Maybe that's what Darren was trying to tell him?! "What happened?! What'd they say? Are they okay?"
That's why it had taken so long for them to come to him. But wait, why was he being blamed for something then? What was the message from Conner and Ember? Why had they said something to get Darren pissed at him? Striker sat back confused once more. "No, there can't be anything wrong with them, or you would've ask 'where are they'? or something like that." Striker thought out loud. He tried thinking back over the situation and came up blank again and stared back up at him almost in a pleading way. "What the hell are you talking about? Please?" Striker asked hoping Darren would give him some straight answers.

Ok maybe wishing for Striker to be stupid in times where he should be stupid would just result in him being even stupider than he usually is. Well done Darren. 10/10.
However, Darren decided to bet that his reaction was enough to convince the others. The anger and rage disappeared from his face, before he cracked a sly smile, "Yep, they're clean." he declared loudly, grabbing the folders.
"Just a bumbling duo of idiots that are following an even bigger idiot," Darren added under his breath. He was a bit sour that his plan didn't go, well as planned, but he would have to be satisfied with the current results.
Back to a louder voice, "You will be taken into a room with your friends, who are fine, and someone will go over the contract shortly, everything will be explained in due time," Darren looked to Striker directly when he spoke about explaining. He hoped that this idiot could at least get the idea that Darren would explain what he was doing just then later on. Darren had assumed that they'd have another officer present the contract to them in the room, maybe a few officers actually if they were scared of Strike Out suddenly lashing out at them.
Darren was preparing to leave the room already, going to report what had happened and laugh in the faces of those who were going to try to fire him for his rude attitude earlier before having a cup of coffee or something.

Striker blinked. And then it clicked in his mind. This had been a set up to prove they weren't here under any hidden motives. Striker gave a slight glare to Darren. The man couldn't have warned him instead of barging in here and scaring the hell out of him that something had already gone wrong? Well, no, he supposed he couldn't have warned them. Still, annoying. Striker sighed deeply when Darren muttered an insult. Was it his fault he hadn't picked up it was some kind of trick? Damn, how was he supposed to know? He didn't know many cops, and most the cops he did know were corrupt. Speaking of which, he'd already told Conner and Ember they were going to claim all the cops here weren't corrupt for the simple fact that if they called the cops out in the station, there would be hell to pay, not to mention the fact that whichever cops didn't get put behind bars would be more than motivated to go tell their secret all over. Most corrupt cops wouldn't go spreading this around unless they had a reason. Strike Out sure as hell weren't going to give them a reason.
"You will be taken into a room with your friends, who are fine, and someone will go over the contract shortly, everything will be explained in due time,"
That was a relief. Conner was the only one that could read and Striker sure as hell didn't want to sign anything without Conner reading it over first. It looked like everything had played out just right. Striker wasn't sure if he felt more happy about that or nervous. Truthfully, he was terrified of doing this, but he was also determined. He wanted to leave the crime behind. He wanted a new life. This was the way to do it, but could he do it? Well, he supposed there was honestly no backing out now. He should've backed out before they got captured if he didn't want to go through with it.
Striker looked back up at the clock as Darren prepared to leave. He knew he'd have to give the clock up in his new life. He would always be known for clocks and swords. If he stripped himself of them, it would be harder for people to recognize him, but it would also be harder on him. He found comfort in both the blade and clocks. It was two things from his old life he wasn't prepared to put down forever, but he'd been working on it now. He'd been slowly weaning himself away from the clock obsession and using his swords less. He figured he'd be able to part with his swords a lot easier than his watches. But he'd get there eventually.
Striker stared at the clock remembering the last time Darren and him had been in an interrogation room. A shiver ran down his spine and he looked away from the clock as if expecting it to suddenly start ticking backwards as it had that one time.

Striker says nothing, shoots him a nasty look, but Darren doesn't seem to mind. Darren just exits the room with a pep in his step, he had his fun, now it was time to go. That was until he was required to go in with the other cops for the treaty. They seemed to be catching on that Striker seemed to fear Darren a bit, and perhaps they were starting to use this to their advantage.
Annoyed, Darren went into the large room with a single table and four chairs. Three for the strike out members, and one for the officer explaining and handing them the contract. An officer entered, and then the trio was led in. They were still in handcuffs, only Conner's being released so that he could handle the paper and look at it. Darren wondered if Striker and Ember's mother were being contacted at right this moment. He wondered if she'd be thrilled to hear that her son and daughter were getting a clean slate.
"Ok." the officer handing them the contract spoke, "This is the contract, simply sign here, and we're good to go. Any questions you'd like to ask just ask away."

Conner took his time reading over the contract for any hidden prices. He read the contract out loud so Striker and Ember would understand what they were agreeing to. Ember seemed to get bored after a moment of listening and dazed off only half listening after a few minutes, but Striker listened intensely. The contract was pretty straight forward. They were forfeiting their life as a criminal and would be watched constantly to make sure they honored that. They weren't allowed to have weapons anymore. Conner felt a little sorry for Striker knowing that his swords were a sense of security to him. Still, Striker didn't look surprised by the restriction. They also couldn't kill and had to complete classes to reintroduce them into an honest living. Conner did pause when he got to the tracer bit though.
"You want to put tracers in us?" Conner asked feeling a little weary. "Why?"
"I'm sure it's just their way of proving our innocence if something came up." Striker shrugged. "And to make sure we don't find any trouble."
Conner hesitated before continuing reading the contract. Placing a tracker in them would prevent them from getting their information from the criminal city, but Conner supposed they could talk about that later. They could discuss whether or not to risk taking the trackers our themselves if it ever came down to it. Still that one seemed a little much to Conner.
Once Conner had read over the entire thing and Striker and him both agreed there wasn't anything in there that sounded like it was some kind of trap, Conner got a pen and signed his name.
"Do I sign their names too? Or, would you rather them attempt to sign something?" Conner asked a little amused.
"I know how to make an 'M' for Michael. If you tell me how to spell it I think I can do it." Striker suggested.
"Wait, do I sign Ember or Michele? Do we sign what we rather be called or what we were named?" Ember asked coming out of her daze.
"Your real name." Conner answered before the cops could give them all annoyed answers. He smiled sheepishly to the cops. "Sorry, none of us have really ever had to handle paper work before."
Conner wanted to laugh at how pissed everyone in the room looked, but he forced himself to keep a straight face and helped Ember and Striker sign their names, having to painfully spell out each letter and sometimes remind them what the letter looked like in their names. Conner didn't think he'd ever seen any cop looked so relieved as the ones when the process was completely done.

...the brat was enjoying this wasn't he? Darren had a stone cold face as he leaned back against a wall, though it was quite obvious that he was not pleased with the annoyances that seemed to come one after another. He almost wanted to give all three of them a crack across their heads and tell them to get a move on, but he resisted for the sake of not causing a scene. He also resisted since it was not really their fault that they weren't taught how to read or write.
"Just get a move on," The cop that had handed them the contract spoke.
Once the contract was signed, there seemed to be breathes of relief from the cops around the room as they figured that they were finally dismissed. Except Darren, he was too busy playing 'the cool cop' to show that he was tired. He could stand here all day if he needed to.
The cop that was handing them the contract then took the contract, "Alright, thank you for your cooperation. Come on, Michele, we need to call your mother. You are still under the age of eighteen and require a parental guardian.
...Well shit Darren had completely forgotten about that part. He looked to Striker, Ember, and Conner, trying to see their reactions to this turn of events. Ember was to leave with the cop right now apparently. Striker and Conner would likely be sent off to a shitty house to live in, probably together or with some other civilians in some kind of reformation program.

Striker could see they were pissing everyone off with Conner reading every part of the contract. Could they really blame him though? They had to be sure, didn't they? They had to make sure there wasn't anything that would put them in harm's way. Once they finally got everything signed and out of the way, the cops broke some earth quaking news he wished he would've been informed about before all this started.
"Alright, thank you for your cooperation. Come on, Michele, we need to call your mother. You are still under the age of eighteen and require a parental guardian."
"Wait, what?!" Almost all three of them shouted something along those lines when they said that.
"I'm not going anywhere without Striker." Ember demanded at once.
"You can't take her away!" Striker argued at the same time.
"Striker is 18 and I'm 19. We're quite capable of taking care of her." Conner said standing up.
There was a look of panic on all their faces. Striker himself had never been separated from his sister for more than a jail stay time. And even when he was in jail, Ember had been staying with someone he trusted. He didn't know his mother very well and didn't know whether or not she'd ban him from seeing her forever or not. Ember and him couldn't be separated like that. It wasn't right.
"I don't know my mother hardly. I don't know if I trust her." Ember echoed Striker's thoughts.
Where they really going to do this? He supposed he could ask his mother if he could stay at her house too, but that left Conner alone. He just wanted them all together. It was hard enough to lose half his team. He didn't want to lose anymore.

"Your father is dead and your mother is your closest living relative, she has legal guardianship and it's her decision whether or not she stays with you," the officer responded with simply, "Now let's g-"
"Although," Darren interrupted the man, standing straight and probably causing every cop in the room to now glare at him for prolonging this. Too bad for them, because Darren felt like abusing the system just to show them how broken this new contract was. They would not listen to him, so he'd show them.
"This woman did not even file a missing children report, was unable to be contacted at the time of the father's death and onward, and failed to even come to the police about her children and merely assumed them to be dead or allowed her children to simply run off on their own. I have records of the exact conversation I had with her when she arrived to talk about these two," he continued.
There was a few seconds of silence before the man said, "Your point?" as if it hardly even mattered.
Darren rolled his eyes before taking a deep exasperated breath before speaking with an obviously irritated tone, "I'm filing a report for Child Neglect."
moron... Darren thought afterwards as he waited for Striker to remember the conversation he had with him a while ago about claiming Legal Guardianship over his sister, At least get this part of all things right...

Striker listened to Darren try to speak for his behalf, but the cops weren't having it. They were still going to take Ember away. Striker was panicked but he knew he had to remain calm. Ember already looked panicked. She'd never been away from Striker except when he'd been in jail, but even then, she had the team to back her up. Striker had never left her in harms way. He'd never left her with anyone he didn't know and trust completely. And he never would. He would get her out of this mess.
Before anyone else got a word out to protest or to try and make Ember move, Striker stood up. "I'm filing for custody of Ember- I mean, Michele Harett. I'm 18 and I have a clean record."
The shock that filled the room must've been a funny site to see if Striker didn't feel like everything was going to snap back at him. He couldn't read. He couldn't write. He didn't even have a home to live in, or the basic necessities of life. He didn't have an honest job yet. They could very well deny him right then an there by claiming he couldn't provide for Ember and unfortunately, that was the truth. The last time he'd tried to provide for Ember, he'd started a criminal team. But Striker wasn't about to back down. He'd find a way. Conner would teach him to read and write. He'd get a job and get an apartment. He would do it all for her.
Thinking on it, didn't they pay a little incentive for the hero program? He could sign up for that. That would be his first job. The classes he was going to have to go to for six months could teach him how to fill out other job applications so he could apply for a second job. Conner no doubt would help him through this too.
He felt slightly bad that he was taking away his mother's right to have custody of her own children, but then again, where had she been all those years ago when they had needed her? Sure, she may not be a bad woman, but Striker wasn't a bad man either and he'd always been there for Ember. She could come visit, but it would be under his ruling. He wanted to have complete control of the situation, not the other way around.

The officers looked to Striker as if he were crazy. Striker? Legally adopting? The room probably would have burst into laughter if it were not for Darren speaking up, "He's right you know, there's a paper in this room to prove it."
Darren was given a nasty look from the one holding the contract, however he only returned a shrug a 'sheepish' smile that was more of a smug one as if to say, 'guess you're shit out of luck'.
The cop gathered the rest of the papers and spoke up, "You'll have to take that to the courts," before leaving the room with a few other officers. Darren left the room behind the contractor, while other officers would attend to Striker, Conner and Ember. He figured that the trio would be kept together, at least for now, so that Conner could read stuff out to the others should they have more papers to go over together.
Darren's job was done, he wasn't involved with the re-introduction program, he was just here to interrogate and inflict fear in the hearts of those that enter the interrogation room. What they did from there on was their own problem.
Darren just hoped that he wouldn't feel the need to sleep in his panic room tonight however.
